For many years I have had some website or another that I then forgot to renew the domain name on: gweninman.info, queerofalltrades.net, gwensportfolio.me.

But those were an attempt at branding myself. A vain attempt at online professionalism that was out of line with my personality and presence. I have only one true online persona, and that is ggwweenn1.

You can find my ghost scattered across the internet using this handle, though I do not have access to all of the accounts anymore due to lost passwords and lost email addresses. From myspace to fanfiction.net to gaiaonline, ggwweenn1 has always been me.

The origin of the handle was Neopets. I created it at a friend’s family computer, because her mom had gotten her four best friends mini neopets as birthday party favors. Mine was a frog, named Polly. When I was 18 I tried to get access to that neopets account again, I had at least 6 or 7 pets by the time I stopped playing in middle school, but Neopets had migrated it’s servers, and the account was tied to my friend’s mom’s email. So my pets were no longer in my grasp.

Despite this heartbreaking loss, I am still me, ggwweenn1. Now I have picked up this domain name, prepaid for 10 years, and am here to stay. I am going to try to post updates here that people often post on social media: vacation photos, life event announcements, mediocre jokes, senseless tirades against local businesses that wrong me, that sort of thing.
